"The Bosses of the Senate," J. Keppler, Puck magazine, 1889
On November 5, 2010, OpEdNews posted our article, “Fascism American-Style: How to Hold Them Accountable.” Looking back over the past 14 1/2 years, we see that the only change in this dynamic is that corporate control over the state has become more pernicious and obvious.
In fact, for anyone paying attention, this situation goes all the way back to colonial America and the Declaration of Independence, and has been recognized since then by various principals in the executive branch:
"I hope we shall take warning from the example and crush in it's [sic] birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws our country." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to George Logan, Nov. 12th, 1816, http://oll.libertyfund.org/titles/jefferson-the-works-vol-12-correspondence-and-papers-1816-1826
“I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies.” —Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President (1801–1809) in a letter written to John Taylor on May 28, 1816
“A power has risen up in the government greater than the people themselves, consisting of many and various powerful interests, combined in one mass, and held together by the cohesive power of the vast surplus in banks.” – John C. Calhoun, Vice President (1825-1832) and U.S. Senator, in a speech given on May 27, 1836
“Corporations have been enthroned. An era of corruption in high places will follow, until wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the Republic is destroyed.” --Abraham Lincoln, Nov. 21, 1864, in a letter to Col. William F. Elkins, Abraham Lincoln: A New Portrait, (Vol. 2) by Emanuel Hertz (New York: Horace Liveright Inc, 1931, p. 954.
"Whosoever controls the volume of money in any country is absolute master of all industry and commerce ... And when you realize that the entire system is very easily controlled, one way or another, by a few powerful men at the top, you will not have to be told how periods of inflation and depression originate." —-James Garfield
“This is a government of the people, by the people and for the people no longer. It is a government of corporations, by corporations, and for corporations.” --Rutherford B. Hayes
"Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people." --Theodore Roosevelt, Platform of the Progressive Party, “Declaration of Principles,” August 7, 1912 and “Theodore Roosevelt, An Autobiography,” 1913 (Appendix B)
"Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it." --Woodrow Wilson, The New Freedom : A Call For the Emancipation of the Generous Energies of a People, Section I: "The Old Order Changeth," p. 13
“The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson.” --Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in a letter to Colonel Edward M. House dated November 21, 1933, as quoted in “F.D.R.: His Personal Letters, 1928-1945.”
Following yet one more hacked election—by the financiers who control the Federal Reserve System, as well as the global for-profit corporate power pyramid (including the manufacturing and programming of the electronic voting and counting machines and the mainstream media), various public-sector subsidiaries (the US, UK, EU, etc.), and the executive-level puppets who manage these tentacles—we see two unelected miscreants from families with a history of racism (and here and here), just like Joe Biden, and Nazi sympathizers (and here and here) engaged in what the Anglo-Euro-American banking cartel sees as the final dismantling of US government functions and the full control of previously public functions by vulture capitalists.
And while public awareness of this pernicious creep of “profit over people” and the worship of mammon has grown steadily over the last 15 years, this has not impeded the fascist stranglehold over the US government. So, we must ask: What is to be done?
In our 2010 article, we noted a gathering of activists, that took place just a short time before that was written, which resulted in a document entitled “The Declaration of Accountability,” modeled on the Declaration of Independence. As such, it lists our grievances and declares independence from the rule of an illegitimate regime in control of the US government.
Currently, the financiers, via the intelligence agencies working as their fixers, put a great deal of effort into corralling progressives into organizations and actions that will have no effect on the current power structure. In essence, none of these so-called “progressive” enterprises address the root cause of global dysfunction: private control over money creation.
To see the concerted effort intended to distract from this root cause, one need look no further than the excuse that Trump and Musk are using to dismantle the government; that is, the federal deficit. As we discussed recently in two articles, The US debt ceiling charade and Claiming the deficit is the problem proves Trump is a puppet, the national debt is nothing more than the principal and interest that the US government owes on the US Treasury bonds it issues as collateral to the financiers who own the Fed, and who in turn deposit Federal Reserve Notes (FRNs, not USDs) in the US treasury. Take it from the scion of one of the families that control the Fed and one of the banking cartel’s chief ideologues, this is a done deal:
“We are grateful to The Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other major publications whose directors have attended our meetings and upheld their promise to maintain confidentiality for nearly forty years. It would have been impossible to develop our global project if we had been in the public spotlight during those years. But the world is more sophisticated now and is more willing to move towards a global government where there will be no more war, but only peace and prosperity for all humanity. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national self-determination that existed in past centuries.” —David Rockefeller, June 5, 1991, in an address to the Bilderberger meeting in Baden Baden, Germany (a meeting also attended by then-Governor Bill Clinton), as reported and translated from the September, 1991, issue of the Monte Carlo-based Hilaire du Berrier Report (also reported elsewhere in the French press, including Minutes, June 19, 1991 and Lectures Francaises, July/August, 1991). Mr. Du Berrier closely followed and chronicled the activities of Bilderberg and its overlapping groups, for over four decades.
“Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure—one world, if you will. If that is the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.” —David Rockefeller, Memoirs, 2003.
“The nation state as a fundamental unit of man’s organized life has ceased to be the principal creative force: International banks and multinational corporations are acting and planning in terms that are far in advance of the political concepts of the nation-state.” — Zbigniew Brzezinski, Between Two Ages: America’s Role in the Technetronic Era, 1971.
As we discussed in our 2018 article, “Transforming the U.S. and Global Economy,” the key action required to restore sovereignty to the citizens of the US is to nationalize the Federal Reserve System, which would also be a major step in rationalizing the global economy.
While it would be foolish to think that the banking cartel would willingly allow US citizens to declare their independence from the faux government and establish The Central Bank of these United States of America, this is nevertheless what is required to throw the money changers out of the temple of democracy.
Although the conditions for such actions may not exist at this time, there are forces outside of the cartel’s influence—such as the growing BRICS movement which trades in the currencies of the member states—that are reducing the cartel’s global power. This, in turn, is not only causing increased repression in the US, UK, EU, etc., but is also a major reason for the present policy of repatriating manufacturing to the US via tariffs and other measures. For example:
Trump announces 25% tariffs on car imports to US
A day before the latest tariffs, South Korea's Hyundai announced it would invest $21bn (£16.3bn) in the US and build a new steel plant in Louisiana.
Trump hailed the investment as a "clear demonstration that tariffs very strongly work".
United Autoworkers union leader Shawn Fain, who had opposed Trump in the election, said the president was "stepping up to end the free trade disaster that has devastated working class communities for decades".
In addition to the disingenuousness involved in blaming the indiscriminate gutting of government functions on the debt owed to a handful of financiers, Trump is attempting to overhaul the voting system in the US based on his claims regarding vote hacking, specifically the 2020 election that he lost. This is really the ultimate in hypocrisy, given that it was hacking that gave Trump the elections of 2016 and 2024. Again, while voting irregularities are perpetrated by both the red and blue parties, ultimately it is the financiers who hack the system and control who is nominated and who is selected, just as the judiciary has allowed. Let’s not forget that neither the red nor the blue parties held primaries in 2024.
'Very dangerous'- Trump orders a 'massive' overhaul of how elections are run
Notice that Trump’s election reform program does not provide a means for US citizens without the prescribed identification (the elderly and those without personal transportation) to be aided in the registration task. Nor does it prohibit the use of electronic counting machines, which make paper ballots worthless.
Then there is the matter of gutting the Social Security Administration (SSA) and disrupting payments that are derived from contributions by employees and employers, not government funding. This is theft and should be prosecuted as such. To be fair, the SSA was already in dire straits prior to Trump. Telephone calls to one’s local SSA office were regularly put on hold for two hours, thus preventing the scheduling of appointments and forcing one to go to the office and sit for most of the day trying to be seen (without an appointment) to resolve an issue.
It only took two months for Trump and Musk to break Social Security
Why DOGE is struggling to find fraud in Social Security
“… less than 1 percent of Social Security’s payments in recent years were determined to be improper - often the result of an accidental oversight or change in benefit status, according to a report last year by the agency’s inspector general. That works out to about $9 billion a year, and more than two-thirds of the mistaken payments were eventually clawed back.”
And the same goes for Medicare, which is also a payroll deduction.
Dr. Oz and the Plot Against Medicare
Private Medicare Advantage plans are killing seniors and bankrupting hospitals. Now the Trump administration is preparing to make them mandatory, ending Medicare as we know it.
Another lie being promulgated by Trump concerns the United States Postal Service (USPS), with Trump claiming that it loses money. This situation began years ago when Congress required the USPS to fund its pensions 75 years in advance, thus creating an unnecessary expenditure that is being used as an excuse to privatize the agency, an action which violates the Constitution, as it requires a government postal service. One obvious reason why a private postal service is absurd is that mail-in ballots would then be in private hands. … And despite the Postmaster General’s spin, he has been a part of this dismantling.
US Postmaster General Louis DeJoy resigns
Trump said last month he was considering bringing the Postal Service under the control of the Department of Commerce, calling the USPS a “tremendous loser” of money.
Wells Fargo Is Plotting to Privatize the Post Office
A newly released memo from the banking giant Wells Fargo outlines a predatory scheme to dismantle the USPS: sell off profitable parts, slash union jobs, and raise prices by up to 140 percent.
More (purposeful) incompetence: In addition to the fiasco created by cabinet members using a hackable app for national security information, we have a private citizen (Musk), who oversees government surveillance and military operations via satellites, receiving money from China.
Elon Musk’s SpaceX secretly allows investment from China
Elon Musk’s aerospace giant SpaceX allows investors from China to buy stakes in the company as long as the funds are routed through the Cayman Islands or other offshore secrecy hubs, according to previously unreported court records.
Surprisingly, citizens took it upon themselves to inflict property damage as a protest.
Tesla trade-ins on pace for record high amid Musk backlash
Anger against the brand has resulted in Tesla vehicles being set on fire and damage to the company's showrooms and charging stations.
Trump has said he would label such attacks as domestic terrorism.
Tesla stock, which skyrocketed since Trump's election in November on hopes it would be easier for the company to roll out robotaxis under the new administration, has nearly halved from its January peak.
Elon Musk says his government work hurts Tesla's stock price
Musk paid a lot of money to the Trump campaign and in return got the President to drop multiple charges against his companies. Now he is trying to legalize such criminality:
Elon Musk works to gut federal enforcement agencies
